Very well said.
I don’t know if I’m ballsy enough to send that to a reader, but very well

What kind of value are you bringing to the person who visits your site?
How could you bring more value to the person visiting your site?
Thanks for sharing your email to him with me.

After I sent that email to John (and everyone else) he wrote me and said something that you can gleam a very valuable lesson from.
Check it out directly below.
If you think you know WHAT the lesson is, please post your comments on the blog.
You can also find my now infamous butt chewing in the previous blog post.
Sometimes I even surprise myself.

Great Job John - 1) You took action. 2) Now your revising based on results. 3) Consult w/people w/PROVEN results to speed up the process.

Hi Joe,
The lesson - and EVERYONE should take it to heart - is what this guy did!!! - and what 99.999% of people do not do!
ASK FOR HELP!!
And lesson No. 2 - Which he also did!
Take that advice and use it!
And finally lesson No. 3 - which may end up being the most important!
Build a relationship - he asked again for help, and asked for an ongoing communication/relationship!!
Now he has an ally/mentor - so as long as he doesn’t screw it up - he is a BIG step ahead.

Hey Joe,
Just an off-topic comment.
On the bottom right you have a list of your ‘Weekly Reading’ and you have John Reese’s Blog - well I clicked on John’s blog and it has not been updated since May/2005 - you must be sick of reading the same posts over and over and over and over again every week!
Just found your blog, and I think I will add it to my weekly reading list.

Wow, way to crush a guy’s dreams like a
bulldozer going over a carton of eggs, lol.
You got to be cruel to be kind, sometimes,
I’m sure this “critique” will stick with him
for a long long time.
But hey, we were all there at one time right?
I remember my Tripod site with great fondness,
I learned a lot, and failed miserably, and finally
learned the lesson of “credibility”.
Now that I have a real dot com, I treat it like a
business and I’m doing ten times better.
Think of what you did for his traffic, by blasting
him, I bet he loves you now…LOL.
And yes, that is one of the best “bad example” sites
I have EVER seen!!
It had me singing the Nu B Blues!!

The lessons you can learn?
1. Don’t get good, get started. Believe it or not, this guy was taking action. Yeah, it was completely wrong, but out of it he learned what doesn’t work. It took Thomas Edison more than 2,000 tries before he perfected the light bulb. Was he discouraged? Hell no, he learned 2,000 things that didn’t work, that is called ‘education’.
2. Be teachable. Right now, based on the ‘High Intensity’ lesson Joe gave him, he’s getting on the right track. He’s listening to Joe and correcting his mistakes. I look foreward to seeing the progress.
I can’t wait to see the ‘High Intensity’ lesson he give my new site. Joe, I’m going to shoot you a line when it opens. Please yell at me too.

The lesson:
Quit tiptoeing around people. You can help them more by being direct. Say it Straight.

I believe the word you should be using is GLEAN….
November 3rd, 2006 at 10:29 pm
hey john, did you take the advice of a loud mouth kick butt because you truly believed in what he had to say or were you it doubt of your own ability to believe in yourself…………no matter what you made a choice and it looks like your happy with it ……..bonus, it looks like you got lots of viewers to you site, who also in my view appear judgemental based on someone’s opinion rather than accepting that as humans we are all just learning and experiencing life. good luck to you all and if you must kick butt be prepared to get yours kicked !

What did John learn from Joe’s critique?
Several lessons:
1) It’s better to do something that may not be perfect and “put it out there” vs doing nothing because you know it’s not “perfect.”
2) Recognizing the value of evaluation and feedback from professional mentor Joe.
3) It’s okay for John to ask for continuing advice from Joe as he acts on his suggestions.
John’s a smart man.

Dude,
You also need your own domain name.
Go to GoDaddy.com for your own .com (they’re dirt cheap anywhere you go — but GoDaddy has the best interface for it’s customers and it’s easy to manage when you get a lot of domains)>
Also, you need a RELIABLE autoresponder. And the truth is, there’s only a few. The absolute BEST and most RELIABLE as wel as the most DELIVERABLE is Aweber.com
That’s all they’ve done is autoresponders and database management for the last 10 years (and they’ve pretty much got it right
Now all you need is your own hositng account.
If you need to be cheap for right now (as I can tell you’re just getting started), then the best cheap service is Teknonmedia.com
Use them. They’re pretty good and they have great support as well.
If I had to give you one last piece of advice before I go, it would be this…
Pick just ONE business model, using ONE set of plans, and target only ONE niche that you’re extremely passionate about, then STICK TO IT UNTIL THERE’S NO MORE MONEY TO BE MADE! By doing this, you’ll have money for the rest of your life
God Bless You Buddy,
Anthony Smith
